Introduction
I’m excited to share that I recently passed the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification exam.
As a screen reader user, preparing for a cloud certification was both challenging and rewarding. In this blog, I’ll share my preparation strategy, study resources, accessibility accommodations, and tips that helped me succeed.
I hope this guide helps beginners and other accessibility learners who want to start their cloud journey with Microsoft Azure.
Why I Chose AZ-900
I chose AZ-900 because I wanted to strengthen my understanding of cloud computing and Microsoft Azure services. Since I already work with backend development, APIs, and automation, learning Azure felt like an important next step.
AZ-900 is also beginner-friendly, making it a great starting point for anyone entering cloud technology.
My Preparation Strategy
• Studied for 2 months
• Practiced daily
• Made personal notes
• Cloud concepts
• IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
• Azure services
• Azure pricing
• Security and compliance
• Identity and governance
Accessibility Accommodations
As a screen reader user, accessibility accommodations were extremely important during the exam.
I received:
100% extra time
Permission to use NVDA screen reader
Human scribe support for drag-and-drop questions
Some questions were difficult to navigate independently, especially interactive ones, but the accommodations helped me complete the exam successfully.
I’m thankful that certification platforms are becoming more accessible for learners with disabilities.
